About Me
Hi, I am Melissa. I currently hold multiple titles. Personally, I am the oldest sister to two awesome 90's cool kids. Im a daughter of two very hard working, immigrant, people loving parents who always dreamed big and continue to pursue and cross of goals to this day. Professionally, I am a server, server trainer, server lead, expo captain, cook and staff captain as needed. I have been doing and growing alongside the wonderful catering company I have been serving since 2013. In the mean time, I earned my AA in Architecture at Citrus College Glendora, and my bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Liberal Arts (which is just a fancy way of saying I can research and write papers). My pursuit has always been to know people and to love and serve them as best as I can. As I do with a lot of my endeavors, I sought to submerge myself in understanding my subject (people) and I embarked on my Masters in Psychology. I am one year away from graduating from Cal Baptist University in Riverside with a dual Masters in Church based Counseling and in Marriage and Family Therapy. As life would have it, due to references of my work, I landed a server gig at a catering company and the rest is history.
Over ten years later, I am still in the industry.I was exposed to and discovered a whole new world.I have now done sales, planning, marketing, calligraphy, signage, collaborations with private clients, design, print, tables capes, photography, collaborations with stores like Anthropologie- an URBN company, some of my work has been published on the knot instagram, Inside weddings, I have coordinated all sorts of events, I've worked front of house and back of house, things people see and behind the scenes, project execution, set up and installation work and all of this while learning about cultures, traditions and people, and leaving them with bigger smiles than when they arrived.

My hobby, genuine natural instinct is to think in balance and symmetry and this has facilitated may ability to express myself in presenting things, each, as an art piece. I have an internal inclination toward order, organization, color, texture, design, art, architecture, making, planning, projecting and I am an addict to seeing the outcome of collaboration. As you look around you will see I dabble in many things, but the center and my heart revolves around who people are, and what we can do when we come together, when we respect and value one another. Hospitality allows me to use all of my abilities and to pour my heart into each project being conscientious that there are real people behind what I do every day. If they celebrate I celebrate with them and I celebrate with my team for the gratification after a hard days (sometimes months) work.

I have had the privilege of working alongside people I admire and whose work and character I respect. A lot of them, women and I am so empowered and pumped by that. I always respect and protect my upline. When asked to take lead, I try to lead with respect and with actions. I hope that what I am trying to do, can help pay my way through my masters in Hospitality and Management from Cal Poly. But as life takes crazy turns, that is a goal Ive set but I am flexible and quick on my toes to reposition.
I hope you think I merit your trust and in whatever the medium or event, we get to collaborate in celebrating others together,
